This blog is dedicated to Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition and the Forgotten Realms setting —a combination that continues to offer depth, atmosphere, and rewarding gameplay decades after its release.
I’ve been playing tabletop roleplaying games since 1994, starting with AD&D 2nd Edition in the Forgotten Realms. Over the years, I’ve both played and run a variety of systems, including Vampire: The Masquerade, Call of Cthulhu, Deadlands, Warhammmer Fantasy roleplay and later editions of Dungeons & Dragons. Despite that range, I keep returning to 2nd Edition for its tone, flexibility, and the way it encourages thoughtful, immersive play.
This blog is where I share that experience in a practical and usable way.
A major focus here is my ongoing journey as a Dungeon Master running Night Below, one of the most ambitious Underdark campaigns ever published. I’ll be documenting my preparation process, session planning, challenges, and lessons learned as the campaign unfolds—what works, what doesn’t, and how to manage a game of this scale.
You’ll find:
- Insights into AD&D 2nd Edition rules and gameplay
- Explorations of Forgotten Realms lore and how to use it at the table
- Session reports and reflections from my current campaigns, including Night Below
I’m currently running two campaigns set in the Forgotten Realms: a homebrew campaign and a playthrough of Night Below, one of the most iconic Underdark adventures published for the game.
The aim of this blog is simple: to provide useful, experience-based content for those who still play—or are curious about—classic AD&D and the Forgotten Realms.
